Weekend self-care open thread: Darius Milhaud
Sure. You know Debussy. You know Ravel. Hell, you may even know Poulenc. But have you heard of another titan of the French Impressionist school of composers, Darius Milhaud.
Milhaud can’t really be called “impressionist”. His music was angular and modern, owning much to Stravinksy and the “Rite of Spring”. Listening to one of his pieces is like being transported back to Paris, circa 1923, and sitting in a cafe on the Left Bank.
For this weekend’s self-care, we’ll sample some of his music.
Go and explore his music. You won’t be disappointed.
As always, take care of yourselves and those around you.
