He can't even be a competent fascist

He can't even be a competent fascist

I’ve said this ever since Donald Trump was installed as president: Our saving grace is that our first fascist to occupy the White House has been such an unmitigated dullard. If Trump were at all competent, or had competent people around him, the gulags would be in full operation by now.

Yesterday’s Trump Parade was another case in point. It almost got rained out, Trump came on late to give his speech, and the Teleprompter malfunctioned. It was that malfunction on which today Moron blamed his odd statement that the Continental Army took over airports during the Revolutionary War. It’s been over twelve hours since that speech, and the Twitterverse is still agog over it.

This isn’t to say he can’t do damage. He has already done damage. Ask the concentration camp inmates along the border. Ask the transgendered. Ask Muslims. And on and on. But as dire as the situation is, it could have been so much worse. We could have people in power who know how to pull off a fascist takeover of all levers of government. We could be fighting constant wars to stave off the worst. Instead, on the one hand, we’re stymying him in the courts, and laughing at every ludicrous trapping of dictatorship he takes upon himself.

Remain steadfast in resistance, but remember: It really could have been orders of magnitude worse.
