Monday open thread—Womp womp
It’s always pleasant to wake up to good news on a Monday.
First, by a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court upheld Viriginia’s redistricting under a challenge by the GOP-held lower house. This means that Democrats are likely to take the legislature in this year’s elections.
And then there’s Kyle Kashuv. He’s a Parkland survivor, and he totes would have stopped the gunman if he’d been allowed to pack heat. Well, he’s also a vile racist who had his admission to Harvard rescinded for sitting in his mom’s basement throwing out the N-word online at all hours of the day. Now he’s whining that he passed up on “thousands of dollars in scholarships” to accept a slot at Harvard.
Young Master Kashuv is learning something which everyone has to learn in our social media age: freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Say something abysmal online, and you’ll likely face repercussions.
Happy Monday, everyone. This is your open thread.
