Open Thread: And Joe Makes 22

Welcome to the party, Joe Biden!

As of this morning, Uncle Joe Biden has officially announced his candidacy to become the nominee for president for the Democratic Party. Regardless of how you feel about Biden, the truth is he prevents a very serious challenge to faux-Democrat Bernie Sanders and for this we should all be thankful. Biden will eat into Sanders’ support amongst the White working-class and will have a formidable field team in place, especially in the early voting states. Whereas Bernie Sanders was the only alternative to the front-runner four years ago, there now exists a crowded, diverse field where Sanders now doesn’t even have a lane for the White working-class with Biden and young college-aged Democrats for whom Buttigieg is syphoning off support. At the end of the day, if Biden can be one more thorn in Bernie Sanders’ side then I, for one, am all in support of his candidacy and I look forward to seeing the primary process play out.
