Weekend self-care open thread: Rest in power, Jessye Norman
Now, I know that opera isn’t to everyone’s liking. But this week we saw the passing of one of the most powerful opera divas, the American Jessye Norman. All the more powerful because she was African-American, a demographic not often represented in Western art music.
As I’ve written about ad nauseam, classical music in all its forms sustains me as a balm in a cruel world. So, for this weekend, we shall revel in the power of her immaculate voice.
Rest in power, Jessye. Work in power, all of you.
