Weekend self-care open thread—TV theme songs
Now, kids, listen to Uncle LL and gather round your computers.
In bygone days, there was an entire industry devoted to creating jingles. Jingles for advertising. Jingles for radio. And jingles for TV theme shows.
That's right. Whereas now you're likely to have a hit song as a TV theme, back then that was almost unheard of. The themes of TV shows were bespoke creations, an art form in and of themselves. A TV show could be all sorts of crap, but the theme song played over the opening credits was usually golden, no matter the quality of the show.
So, for this weekend's self-care open thread, a trip in the wayback machine to a time when men were men, women were women, and children were good looking.
First off, the funkiest theme jingle ever.
Now, my favorite show growing up as a kid.
A little song from Watts.
You take the good, you take the bad.
Eat your heart out, Tommy Cruise.
Friend of the Resistance, Lynda Carter!
There are literally hundreds of others. Put your faves in the comments.
As always, take care of yourselves, and others.
