Open thread—Donnie's sweating
Well, you can know Donald Trump’s state of mind by his early morning rage tweets. Here are today’s.
Ah, yes, he’s extolling the virtues of Roger Stone and, again, excoriating an actual public servant in Robert S. Mueller III.
One of life’s truisms is: Never let them see you sweat. Humans are predators, and can detect the scent of fear. Donnie is pretty much this right now:
Which, of course, begs the question:
The thing which infuriates me is the supposition that Trump is some all-powerful demagogue who will skate on all charges and rule in perpetuity. To believe this, you have to believe that Mueller is a Trump lackey, that the Democrats won’t investigate come January, and that all the work we’ve been doing for the past two years is for naught. If you believe that, why even get up out of bed in the morning?
The fact is that Trump is, to use his language, a low-IQ individual. Nothing he has done in the past two years dispels that notion. He doesn’t plan, he doesn’t strategize. He’s never had to, using his fame and money to get out of scrapes. In fact, as far as his personal affairs go, he was much more powerful before he was installed as president. In the White House, the decades of chicanery are catching up to him, whereas if he’d just not come down those escalators he could have carried on with his crimes.
Happy Monday, everyone. Settle in for another wild and woolly week.
