Open thread—A few thoughts on Trump and the holiday season
There are certain sureties in life. For example: It took me only half an hour to drive clear across town to get to work. Angelenos are already gone on vacation.
At this time of year everything slows. down. However much they may try, the merchants and sellers can’t stop us from grinding to a halt as the bleak midwinter sets in.
Will this extend to the Mueller investigation of Donald Trump? I think it will.
We’ll get irruptions from Trump’s twitter feed, with misspellings and all.
But this country needs a break to pause, breathe, and reflect. As much as Trump wants to be the center of attention in all our lives, like a good little tinpot dictator, I, for one, won’t allow him to be this holiday season.
I’m going to focus on family and friends, and, of course, myself. I’m going to recharge my batteries and prepare for a new year of battles. I’m going to relive the magic that used to adhere to this season when I was young.
In other words, let Trump stew in his rancid pile. He’ll be there when the new year starts.
All that being said, something might just blow up to make Trump’s Christmas very unmerry. It’s 2018. You just never know. All I want for Christmas is at least Don Jr. being perp walked.
This is a long-winded way to say: Welcome to your open thread.
