Butter emails

Butter emails

Last night, the Washington Post broke the news that Princess Ivanka of the House of Trump used a private email account to conduct government business.

In the parlance I like to use when something ridiculous comes my way: Fuck a duck.

It’s not like her father spent all of 2015 and 2016 (and 2017 and 2018) excoriating Hillary Clinton for using a private email server. Anyone with any political nous would have known that the one thing you don’t do in Fight Club is use a private email account.

But the fact is that Ivanka is in a position for which she is completely unqualified. (Just what her position entails, as to duties and responsibilities, is still a bit of a mystery to everyone.)

Her shysters are now braying that she didn’t conduct any “important” business via private email. Which, of course, is A) missing the point of the Presidential Records Act, and B) again brings up the question “WHAT THE HELL DOES SHE DO ALL DAY???”

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Were the components of this regime at all competent, we’d all be in camps by now. (I jest. We wouldn’t. But we’d be in much more of a world of hurt.) The fact that these people are even more incompetent than we thought they would be is one of the things which will save the Republic.

The GOP has gone from the Party of Lincoln to the Party of “You’re Fired”. It is now going all in on Donald Trump’s attack on the admiral who led the operation to kill Osama bin Laden. And it will now excuse the malfeasance of the Princess of the Realm for doing the same thing it lashed Hillary Clinton for doing.

At some point, we just have to accept that we’re dealing with morons, and not accord them any superpowers. Too many people who should know better faint at the slightest move this regime makes. (I’m looking at you, Talking Points Memo.) They’re going to do a lot of damage, as unsupervised puppies are wont to do. But the damage isn’t coordinated, isn’t thought out, and won’t be irreparable. Just today, a federal judge ruled against the Trump directive that people crossing the Mexican border illegally can’t claim asylum. These are not the best and the brightest.

So sit back. Enjoy your turkey and booze. More shoes are going to drop.
