Weekend self-care, part the first: Hair metal
It's been a heavy, even traumatic week. From Jerusalem to Al Franken, we've been buffeted by the waves of the Trump Ocean. Our nerves are raw, our anger and anxiety high. So, as your friendly neighborhood moderator, I think we need an extra dollop of self-care this weekend.
Ah, hair metal. How I mocked it as a young fan of KRS-One, U2, and Mozart. How I mocked its silly pretensions, its unbridled misogyny, its outlandish clothes.
But now that I'm in my 40s, it holds a certain nostalgic value for me. It speaks of MTV, and long summer days, and blasting the radio in the car. And, let's be frank: those bastards could shred a guitar.
So, a little hair metal to get the weekend going.
And, finally, the theme song for the Resistance.
Happy Friday, everyone!
