Our traditional Martin Luther King Day post

Editor’s note: I wrote this piece last year on Martin Luther King Day, and thought it would be good to fish it out. When the Wall Street Journal has a piece as of two days ago on the “colorblind radical”, I think it’s time to remember just how “radical” Dr. King was.

We all know the "I Have a Dream" speech. That's the one white conservatives love to point to. But Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is not the caricature. By the end of his life, he had moved beyond merely the ills afflicting his community, to a stance that those ills were but the canary in the coal mine affecting the entire body politic of the United States. Here are a few of his more radical speeches for your open thread.

Rest in power.
