Weekend self-care open thread—The call to battle

Now, a normal self-care open thread has music or spoken word or puppies.

Instead, continuing our coverage of President Barack Obama taking to the lists again, this weekend's thread will be the speech he just finished giving in California, the center of the resistance to Donald Trump.

Pres. Obama's full-throated re-emergence onto the political scene is something not seen since the days of Teddy Roosevelt. No, he's not running for office himself; but there's no doubt that until Democrats choose a nominee for 2020, he is the leader of the party. And he is going to do everything in his power to make sure that Trump's power is erased with a new, Democratic-controlled Congress.

As this Politico analysis shows, Trump fears Pres. Obama in a way he never did Hillary Clinton.

But Trump also sees Obama as a much more formidable political opponent than Hillary Clinton, the one he actually beat, and Trump’s allies have privately worried that the 44th president could get in his successor’s head.

Trump's misogyny made him dismiss Mrs. Clinton. His racism makes him fear Pres. Obama.

It's going to be a fun 60 days.
