The hashtag #TakeAKnee is trending on Twitter because Moron Hitler had this to say at his hate rally last night:
1. Players taking a knee to protest injustice should be fired. 2. There isn't enough violence in the NFL. 3. Fans in stadiums should pell-mell leave the stadium if players take a knee.
One can detect a pattern. When African Americans of standing protest against Moron Hitler's regime, they're treated to a blurring rage attack. It happened with Jemele Hill. It happened just today with Steph Curry.
As his impotency increases, he has to lash out even more viciously to maintain the fiction that he is powerful, in control, master of all he surveys. The fact is that the only puppets he has left are those lickspittles who have latched on to him for diminishing returns, and his legions of morons who see in him the last best chance to avert the inevitable diminution of their status.
We can be offended at his tirade. I certainly am. But we can be even more so bemused. People operating from a position of strength don't have to constantly prove that strength. Only those who are weak have to puff out their chests and call for the chastising of their enemies.
He acts out against African Americans of stature because he knows he can't bully them, can't cow them, can't win them over. They have his number, and they have a voice. And their voices are almost invariably more highly regarded than his own among people who aren't his cult. This is his foundational weakness.
I don't know how much longer we'll have to endure this farce. But this is not a man secure in his position. It is instead a man who knows his time is short, if not already passed.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The graphic accompanying this piece shows a white player taking the knee during the anthem. More of that needs to happen. Players of color can't challenge systemic racism on their own.
