Open thread: How to help #Houston
We're taking a break today from things political for a post listing the ways you can help Houston as it's battered by Harvey.
The Red Cross, of course, is the big one. Text HARVEY to 90999 to make a donation.
United Way also has an SMS short code to which you can text: text UWFLOOD to 41444 to donate.
I know many of us have issues with the Salvation Army in regards to their stance on gay rights, but right now they're on the ground helping. Go here, or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY.
Local organizations have also stepped up. Houston mayor Sylvester Turner has set up a Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
Of course, don't forget the pooties and woozles. Pets depend on their human guardians, and are even more at the mercy of natural disasters. Contact the Houston Humane Society and/or the San Antonio Humane Society.
Feel free to list any other resources in the comments, and I'll highlight them.
