By the time this thread posts, the House GOP may or may not have the votes necessary to pass the American Health Care Act. If it does manage to pass it, we can't be sanguine and think it will die in the Senate. Remember, we were supposed to have President Hillary Clinton right now.
However, if the whole sordid monstrosity makes it to Donald Trump's desk in some fashion or another, the above graphic details the facts. And look at who gets screwed: Trump's fervid base.
If it does pass, and people start to lose healthcare, expect it to be the issue of 2018 House and Senate races. If it does pass, expect it to become the issue of gubernatorial races.
Trumpism had to succeed temporarily in order for the disease to come out into the open. I have faith that we will prevail over it. But much damage will be done. However, I'm beginning to be of the opinion that it was unavoidable. There are forces in this country and the world who don't want the world envisioned by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. These forces either benefit from chaos, or see their privileges fading on the waves of history. History won't be gainsaid, but it can be briefly checked. How briefly is up to us.
