Treason by way of hubris and insecurity
Here we are. Right where many of us thought we would be.
The Washington Post broke a monumental story. In his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russia's US Ambassador Sergey Kislyak last week, feckless failure Donald Trump revealed classified information to them relating to the fight against Islamic State.
President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.
The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.
The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said Trump’s decision to do so endangers cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and the National Security Agency.
So, not only did Trump reveal this information, but his minders in the West Wing knew what a colossal cock up this was and have been in damage control since then.
At what point do Republicans in Congress finally say "enough"? This fake president, this pretend leader, this moron is putting all of us in danger every day longer he stays in office. Islamic State, his supposed bête noire, is certainly conducting a purge as we speak.
This is treason, pure and simple. A president's chief function is to keep the nation's secrets, not prattle them out in an attempt to prove he has a penis. It doesn't even matter why he did what he did. A state can't have its chief executive commit acts which threaten the state's security. Donald Trump is one tweet away from bringing the Republic down to a crashing end.
