Alternative reality vs. reality

Alternative reality vs. reality

The presidency of George W. Bush ended in what could only be seen as disaster and it ended in disaster because the policies that Bush supported were policies that were not very beneficial to most people and also not beneficial to the rest of the world. His right wing policies did not do what his administration claimed they would do and the result was not a good one. The failure of his policies opened the door for Barack Obama.

Candidate Obama understood that changes were needed to address the challenges that were in front of us and he put forth policies that addressed the understanding that the world was changing and that we needed to change. He came up with solutions that were pragmatic in nature that attempted to do the greatest amount of good and the least amount of harm. As we all know he was obstructed in everything he tried to do and in the end in spite of the obstruction he took us a long way forward.

Change takes time and although a lot of headway was made under President Obama understandably he was unable to correct all the damage. There were a lot of people in certain states that had been hurt by a changing world and by right wing economics and politicians that were not concerned with their plight. There were a lot of people who felt that the GOP was not delivering on it's promises. Many of the people affected by this had become sour on their representatives in the government and wanted to see change but they were unwilling to confront the reason they were drawn to the GOP to begin with.

They were sold on the idea that they deserved more rights than others so although they had been on the losing end of that deal and the payoff was not taking place they were not willing to give up in the belief in their superiority and that they had a right to a piece of the pie at the expense of others having no access to the pie. They lost faith in their leaders but not in what their leaders believed.

And then along came Donald Trump who claimed that he was different from their leaders and he promised to return them to the glory of their past when they felt secure in their superior position. Because their superiority is a lie and because it is not possible to go back in time and restore something that wasn't real to begin with it was necessary for Trump to move from the subtle lies from the past to the most blatant lies possible and this was the basis of his campaign.

The movement from a subtle lie to something else entirely took place when Trump and his surrogates began to suggest that an alternative fact is the same as an actual fact. To accomplish what Trump set out to do which is pull the ultimate scam on the populous it became necessary to move away from reality entirely. It was necessary to move away from reality because what he is trying to do can't work in the real world. All of his ideas are unworkable and will most certainly fail and cause ill effects as they are the polar opposite of what is needed at this time.

Throughout history there have been bubbles like the housing bubble that was unsustainable and since it was unsustainable it burst. Since what Trump is doing is bound to fail because it is not based in reality the people who have invested themselves in Trump and who have been lied to and who are being deceived are destined to to be let down. This is not a housing bubble but it is instead a reality bubble that is about to burst.

Aside from the group of people who are on the cusp of experiencing a massive jolt of disappointment there are those who want to confront the real challenges that are before us who can see the danger of what is taking place and who have also reached their breaking point. They have hit the end of their tolerance. They are unwilling to accept this state of affairs. The resistance stemming from this intolerance is another sign of a bubble that is beginning to burst.

President Obama spent his time in office building a case for reality. Everything about Donald Trump is built on an illusion. Reality is hierarchical to illusion. Reality has substance and illusion is smoke and mirrors and therefore it doesn't hold up. Alternative facts and alternative realities are not facts and they are not reality. Trump and his surrogates have taken lies and illusions as far as they can go and therefore it has reached a point where it has become unsustainable.
There has never been a time when the necessity to confront reality was as great as today. Right wing philosophy has taken us to a point of potential environmental destruction. Right wing philosophy has taken us to a place where far to many believe that we can continue to exploit everyone and everything and not have to pay a price. Right wing philosophy is based on a lie and an illusion.  If we continue in the direction of right wing philosophy we will destroy ourselves. It is unsustainable.

We are in a showdown between an alternative reality and reality. The bubble is already beginning to burst. Once the bubble fully bursts we will be left with the only thing that is real and substantial and once that happens the door will be opened for us to actually face reality and begin to find solutions to the challenges of today that have reached the point of sustainability due to wrong human thinking. President Obama has modeled for us a path forward. It is up to us to build on that path.
