The cat is out of the bag
One wonders how long Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has left after this story has broken.
Obviously, he knew nothing he'd say at a "closed door" meeting would stay secret. It's almost as if he's getting ahead of the treason trials which are coming down the pipe.
Even if Donald Trump attempts to fire Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, his fate is sealed. He will not see out his term, and may very well, as we all sing to him, die in jail. The same goes for his miscreant family.
What, again, is shocking is the sans souci with which Trump enablers take this news. If Hillary Clinton had won with help from a foreign power, we'd have President Tim Kaine right now. The country would, rightly, be up in arms. But we have a situation where Trump supporters see any attack on their Messiah as a dark conspiracy made up of Satanic lies. These are the same people who in a previous generation would have been Cold Warriors. (Of course, back then Russians were godless atheists; now the Russian Orthodox Church directs state policy on social issues.)
Every Congressional Republican who has stood by Trump in the quest to enact a tax giveaway to the rich and corporations will be brought up before the dock for being an accomplice to treason. It won't be enough to say "We were waiting for Bob Mueller to finish his investigation." The evidence blares like a klaxon announcing doom. But as I've said before, the GOP is no longer a political party, but a death cult hurtling down towards its destiny.
I've giving few kudos to Tillerson. He is supremely unqualified for his job, much like his boss. Why he doesn't resign and spill all the dirt is a mystery. But even he, in private, recognizes the truth. When the inner circle is running scared, you know the regime doesn't have long to live.
