Weekend open thread - RIP Tom Petty

Weekend open thread - RIP Tom Petty

(Photo Credit: Pete Souza, White House Archives.)

As a child growing up in late 70s / early 80s New York City, I was awash in music. I was exposed from Beethoven to the Beatles, from Elvis Costello to Afrika Bamaataa.

One of the artists my eldest brother played on his record player was Tom Petty.

This week saw his passing. I could go on about his liberal politics, how he came to despise the Confederate flag he once championed. But, for this self care open thread, I'll just play his music.

He was an unapologetic liberal, a great artist, and I mourn him.

As always, take care of yourselves.
