A few bits of news from around the way concerning the new regime.

Donald Trump Reinstates Ronald Reagan’s Abortion ‘Global Gag Rule’

WASHINGTON ― In one of his first acts as president, Donald Trump has reinstated a federal ban on U.S. funding for international health organizations that counsel women on family planning options that include abortion.

The Mexico City policy, also known as the global gag rule, was first put in place by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. It prohibits giving U.S. funding to nongovernmental organizations that offer or advise on a wide range of family planning and reproductive health options if they include abortion ― even if U.S. dollars are not specifically used for abortion-related services.

Those "educated" white women who voted for Trump must be so proud of themselves. But, you know, they can fly to Canada if need be.

Looking for a Spanish version of WhiteHouse.gov? Ya no existe.

Americans looking for information about the Trump administration or White House history in Spanish are coming up empty-handed. For now, at least, it no longer exists.

Just after noon on Friday, WhiteHouse.gov/espanol went dark, with an error message explaining that “the page you’re looking for can’t be found.”

“We have a country, where, to assimilate, you have to speak English. And I think that where he was, and the way it came out didn’t sound right to me. We have to have assimilation — to have a country, we have to have assimilation,” Trump said. “This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish.”

So, to all the Latinos who voted for this abomination: jodete.

Trump freezes federal hiring

President Trump issued an executive order Monday freezing federal hiring. The hiring freeze excludes national security employees.

A hiring freeze was included in the Trump presidential campaign’s “Contract with the American Voter.” It was the second of six measures “to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, D.C.” and part of his “100-day action plan to Make America Great Again.”

"Make America Great Again" by skirting civil service rules and having a workforce consisting of contractors who can be fired at will. I wonder if union Trump voters like that deal?

There's more out there, but those are the highlights.
