I'm old enough to remember when the likes of John Aravosis of Americablog washed their hands of Barack Obama before he'd even been inaugurated. (I stopped reading a ton of blogs which had been lifelines to me during the Cheney coup.) He invited that gay bashing preacher to the inaugural! He wasn't moving to end restrictions on gays as the first order of business! He hadn't "evolved" on gay marriage! I'm also old enough to remember when GLAAD gave an award to the guy who instituted DADT and DOMA, while sloughing off the guy who repealed DADT and stopped defending DOMA.
Well, what a difference a few years make. Perhaps this is the beginning of the reassessment of President Obama as a truly transformative figure. He's the first sitting US president to be featured on the cover of a gay magazine. And of course, not just any gay magazine, but the the New York Times of the gay community. As our beloved Joe would say, this is a BFD.
